Lost every car key and have no spare

With one working key in hand, a second can usually be cloned or added quickly — the car already trusts a key, and it is being asked to trust one more. With every key gone, nothing in the car recognizes anything, and the work starts from the immobilizer itself.

That means reading the vehicle's security data through the diagnostic port, cutting a blade to match the lock, and programming a fresh key against the module — usually while erasing the lost ones so they cannot start the car if they turn up in the wrong hands. On some makes there is a security delay built into the vehicle, ten to thirty minutes of the car simply refusing to cooperate, and nobody can shorten it. The assumption that a car with no key has to be towed somewhere is mostly out of date. What matters is access, not location. The vehicle needs to be reachable and there needs to be somewhere safe to work beside it for the better part of an hour. Expect to show a registration, title, or insurance document with your name on it, plus photo ID that matches. Have the VIN available — it is on the driver-side dash through the windshield, on the door jamb sticker, and on your registration.

This is not optional and it is not a formality. Making a key to a vehicle is making a key to something worth thousands of dollars that can be driven away. Anyone willing to skip that check for you is willing to skip it for whoever wants your car next. This is the single most useful thing on this page.
